This is a traditional rice with Turkish roots in its name that is made at weddings, so that the couple leads a “sweet life” together but is also served at funerals so that the soul has a “sweet trip” It is simple to make, different and deliciious!
- 200g rice
- 3 cups of water
- 200g angel hair pasta
- 150g brown sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 5 Tbsp olive oil
- cinnamon to serve
- Boil the water and add some salt. Add the rice and sugar and boil on low heat till the rice is cooked and has almost absorbed the water. We leave some moisture so that the end result isn’t too stiff!
- In a small frying pan add the olive oil and fry the angel hair pasta until its golden. Keep mixing and do not take your eyes off it because it might burn! We want gold and crispy, not black!
- Add the pasta to the rice, mix well and let it cool for 5 minutes!
- Serve warm with a generous sprinkle of cinnamon
