The most precious advice from a true professional

My husband and I head down to Athens very often for business or in this case, pleasure! For the Food Blog Awards of course which I won an award for Best Greek Cooking in English. (Yes, Im bragging hehe)

What better way to celebrate than with a dinner at one of Athens’ finest restaurants, Varoulko Seaside. The truth is, we have visited this restaurant a few times and always left with a huge smile on our faces and this is why we chose to visit once more! Location? Right on the beautiful marina of Mikrolimano, in Piraeus! The Staff? Very polite and helpful! True professionals with incredible service. And last but not least, the food. Exceptional. The highlight of the evening was getting the chance to meet the owner, awarded 10 times Michelin Stars in a row Chef, Mr Lefteris Lazarou. A very pleasant, kind and sweet man who I am very privileged to have met and sat at the same table with. I gained the courage to tell him that I too am very much involved and have a passion for cooking, and that I won an award that day. “Congratulations! What award did you win?” he responded with a smile on his face. “The audience/peoples choice award for Best Greek Cooking in English” was my immediate response and what he said next was what I kept as the best piece of advice: “Well, the awards that any chef acquires are obviously very important for his career, but the most important award that any person can get is to manage to be loved by the people. It’s the people’s love that matters the most and their support for what you do. If you truly love what you do, it reflects to your audience and they will definitely support you.”

The most precious advice from a true professional. Thank you Mr. Lefteris Lazarou.
